Encouragement and Good Tidings
Updated: Jan 4
Oh, how time flies when you have holidays, overnight shifts, and COVID to contend with. Oof! I am sending this greeting out to you all in hopes that it finds you well and healthy.
In an effort to offer encouragement and solace to parents, families, and those who are battling disease and/or recovering from surgery, please know that you are not alone. This time of year can be very stressful when it comes to holiday engagements and staying healthy. This is especially hard given the times we live in with COVID and now the alarming rate of RSV cases rising in our area.
It is okay for you to be an introvert and spend more time at home during these times in order to protect yourself and your family from germs and viruses. If that is not an option for you because of work or school obligations, please be mindful of your masking and hand washing practices for yourself and those around you. If you are having a hard time and feel as though you are struggling, please know that there are many people that are willing and able to offer their support. If you need help, reach out to me and I will help you navigate the resources to find assistance.
Being a professional within the birth community, I have to protect my clients and babies by making the hard choice to keep a distance if I am not feeling well. It is never an easy decision to make when symptoms arise and I need to postpone coverage or find a backup. But my client's health and safety is the utmost priority and I would never want to put anyone at risk. Be safe. Take care of yourselves and each other.
Be kind and have grace with yourself if this time of year can be challenging. I know from my own personal experience that the ups and downs emotionally during a time of year can be very taxing physically and mentally. It is okay for your holidays to not be picture perfect. No one's are! That's the reality and truth of real life.
Sending your warm love and light.
